CATV TECHS

Field Technician Job Description:                               

  • Responsible for servicing one or all of the following at the customer’s home or office:  cable, high speed data, and digital phone. Equipment installed may include analog or digital systems for video, high-speed data and voice.
    Management reserves the right to add, change or revise this job description at any time.
  • Essential Job Functions:
    • Directly responsible for installation from the tap to the customers equipment.
    • Accountable for referring problems between the tap and head end to plant technicians.
    • Installs equipment and network interface units and drop wires into customer location.
    • Disconnects and reconnects service as instructed.
    • Tests equipment to adjust signal strength and ensure optimum reception.
    • Communicates with customers on-site, encouraging them to upgrade equipment or service packages.
    • Demonstrates ability to learn equipment and steps required for correct installations and basic problem solving.
    • Handles routine installations.
    • When non-routine issues arise, chooses from clear cut courses of action for next steps or escalates.
    • Receives detailed instructions on all work.
    • Work is closely supervised and reviewed for completeness and accuracy.
    • Performs other duties as assigned.
  • Experience/Skills Required:
    • Requires basic mechanical aptitude, ability to climb utility poles, work outdoors year round, and be unafraid of heights.
    • Must be able to communicate both verbally and in writing with customers, peers, and superiors and follow instructions.
    • Requires possession of valid driver's license, as well as good driving record.
    • Must pass a pre-employment drug screen and background check.
    • Must be of a weight of 270 lbs. (or less) fully clothed and maintain this weight (or less) to comply with safety requirements.
    • Strong electronics/electrical or structured wiring background is preferred.
    • Previous cable television or related experience is a plus.
    • Computer skills are a plus.
  • Education Level:
    High school diploma or general education diploma (GED).
  • Travel requirements and frequency:
    • Requires driving van throughout day to appointments in system.

LEAD TECH

Lead Technician Job Description:                               

  • Primary duties will include training new technicians, assisting techs, and communicating metrics.

TRAVEL TECH

Travel Technician job description:

Traveling techs will meet the same criteria for CATV/DIRECTV techs. These techs will be hired to assist with opening new markets. Techs may be cross-trained in more than one field, CATV, Satellite, Telephone. These techs will be compensated for time on the road with pay, and paid housing, and time to go home.  Techs must be quick learners, able to thoroughly train new techs. These techs will also have a primary market to work in when not on the road.
